Pink Hunter Boots and A Herringbone Vest (A Stolen Look)

I stole this look from my favorite blogger +Caitlin Covington who's style is always exquisite. I added my own touch, a pink Santa's hat. Recently I did a whole post about different ways to wear this vest that you can get from Goodnight Macaroon, J. Crew, or a dupe at Target. Unfortunately we're getting a lot of freezing rain and no snow. I know, I hate snow every other month but December but in December I want a white Christmas, so let's get the temperature dropping and the rain to go. Anyway, here are the outfit details.

Love this vest it's so versatile. It keeps selling out so they keep making more.

Target also keeps pumping this vest out because the J. Crew version is so popular.

Soft as silk but still pretty warm. Get some from my friend Olivia.

This is really soft. I wish the collar were higher but it's a great shirt. I got a large and it's pretty snug.

My first, my loves, my pink Hunter Boots. Pssst...check ebay.

Wow these are almost identical. Only missing the Hunter logo. What a steal!

ETSY Monogram Necklace $20
This monogram necklace is like 2.5-3" which is really fun with some looks but id I were buying it again I'd go for 1.5-2". I got a longer length and use a little rubber band to tie it back to make it shorter when I want to.

New York and Company Rhinestone Bracelet $13
My bracelet sold out of black friday but here is a really similar one at a great price.

I got this from my Rocksbox for considerably less. To get a free month use this code amandabbff1130.

Sophie Harper X Ring $19*
This came from my Rocksbox too and I loved it so much I've been wearing it in place of my wedding ring that doesn't fit.

Pink Santa Hat $9
Mine came from Victoria Secret's years ago but here's a similar one on Amazon that even has the same rhinestones!

Winter Casual on the Cheap

@budgetbabe is always raving about this $7 cardigan from Amazon and it's definitely cute but it feels as cheap as it is and the shipping is neither free nor fast. That being said it's probably worth the wait to get a $13 sweater cardigan in virtually any color. Mine is the s/m and I'm an 8. I paired it with a cheap tee and dirt cheap booties from Wal-Mart for a quick comfy look for Saturday errands. Here's the details.

Shop this look...

Amazon Cardigan $12
I hope this soften ups some upon washing and it smells a little like plastic but it is really cute. If I decide to buy another it will be the mustard in the 12/14 size.

Charlotte Russe V Neck Tee $10
This tee is very soft but with my chest it's a little short. It is sheerish but perfect under a cardigan.

LuLa Roe Leggings  $25
Black is hard to find and the ones I wear the most. I got a tiny little hole in one pair and freaked out at the notion of having to wear some other brand of leggings. Fortunately Olivia Fink saved me from that horror.

Wal-Mart Booties $15
Scarlett's teacher has these and when I complimented her on them she told me they were dirt cheap. They look so much more expensive then they are. They're not walking around the city all day comfy but they are 2 hours running errands comfy. I'm a 7 and they pinch my foot right at the part before my toes. What's that part called? Any who for $15 pinch away. You can't buy them online but they have loads in the store.

Bauble Bar Alpha and Ice Pendant  $36
Love this cute little initial necklace.

eBay Nail Bracelet $2
Finally had to buy a new set because my old ones didn't stay closed any more. Well worth it.

Sole Society Tote $59
If you're looking for a Christmas gift this bag is awesome. I'd love it in the bone color myself.

Ray-Ban Aviators $200
Ok these aren't on the cheap but you can get dupes on ebay for like $5. Here's the real deal.

Winter Skin Care: Daytime Routine

My day time routine is far more scarier then my nighttime but I am sharing it anyway. My skin is pretty amazing though...here's how I keep it clean and wrinkle free. Except those three stupid wrinkles on my forehead that Pat won't let me get Botox to fix. I know it seems like a lot but it's all necessary.  As a reminder I am 34 with combination skin, medium sized pores, and wrinkles just waiting to break free but I shall not let them!

Step by Step:

1. I hate soap so in the morning I wipe away the nighttime grime with Nip + Fab Glycolic Fix Nighttime Pads (which I've recently replaced Gylcolix Elite Pads which are both more expensive and can't be bought anywhere else but Amazon however they're 10% glycolic acid and the N+F are only 5%). They are full of exfoliating goodness and have salicylic acid with helps fight blemishes. Get a discount with a monthly subscription. P.S. Pat uses these too.

2. Once my face is clean I use Yes to Grapefruit Pore Perfecting Toner Spray, which I adore, the scent wakes me up and really refreshes and hydrates my skin.

3. Once my face is cleaned and toned I use Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid which is a bloody miracle product. Like most products I used I read about it at 2 am from a twitter post likely from InStyle. You can get a trial size for $10 and it is totally worth it. I will be giving one away on Instagram this week so check out @pinkhairfloosie for details. This product exfoliates, tones, fights blemishes, it really does it all and my makes my skin super tight (God I wish Sally Harper could try this) ask my husband I make him feel it after I put it on.

4. While the serum is drying I put on my eye gel Enlite Super Face Wake Up Eyes Cooling Eye Invigorator with it's cooling metal applicators and I pat it down to help kill those dark circles and morning puffiness.

5. Moisturizer time!!! I've switched this since this summer's post as well. My friend Amber Yoder is a Mary Kay rep and I bough the Time Wise Age-Fighting Moisturizer Sunscreen in the spring and only opened it recently because it's only SPF 30. Not strong enough for me in the summer but perfect for the winter and I absolutely love it. My skin is radiant with this moisturizer.

6. Facial oil is last, remember that awesome perfect facial oil I make? Well the rosehip oil makes it smell so I don't use it during the day. I only use oil on cold dry days and never in my t-zone. L'Oreal Paris Age Perfect Glow Renewal Facial Oil gets the job done to keep my skin from drying out in the harsh winter. A little goes a very long way.

So just six little, minor, but EXTREMELY important steps! Stay young my friends.

Thanksgiving Turtleneck Sweater Dress with LuLa Roe Leggings

Richmond was supposed to be warmer. Lies, lies, lies, but fear not I brought my Forever 21 turtleneck sweater dress and LuLa Roe leggings I brought for sleeping in with a nice comfy Irma. Instead of my sweet Minissoni flats I planned on wearing I threw on my F21 booties and headed out for bagels. Oh and I'm stuck with my eyeglasses since something was horribly stuck in my eye. Fear not it's gone now. I used to have black hair and blue eyes and it was one of my husband's requirements for marrying me, real hair and real eyes. HAHA it's pink now you foolish man! But in all seriousness my husband is the sweetest most wonderful man on the planet who supports me in everything I do but doesn't read my blog any more because surely it has to terrify him.

Plaid is the New Black

Plaid is everywhere this year and with how comfortable and cool it can be I am sure it is here to stay. Here are a bunch of different ways you can wear your plaid shirts. Check it out (click on the link or the pictures to see all the details). I wore 4 different plaid shirts but all of these looks can be done with one shirt so you can get more bang for your buck.

Dressy Plaid

I love this look it's very fun but chic. It was perfect to hit a trendy new restaurant with friends.

This look was very popular. It's fun, current, and comfortable. Plus the shoes are a steal!

Plaid with a Utility Vest

This is a great casual look and the shirt is on sale at Old Navy. Plus this vest is a great staple piece.

This plaid shirt from New York and Company is so soft and the puffer vest is also a great piece to own.

How are you wearing your plaid? Show me pics and thanks for reading!

Flannel and a Utility Vest at the Zoo

I seem to be at the zoo a lot these days. In case you are new to my blog I have a 5 year old and if it's warm enough we go to the zoo. The Richmond Metro Zoo is especially fun. It's a private zoo and they let you do all sorts of things that proper zoos won't and probably with good reasons like not getting bit by a giraffe or loosing a hat while zip lining over rhinos. They did move the Orangutans far enough way that thy can no longer dig a hole under their pen and taunt you for food. But they still have the dog and the cheetah chilling together. If you go to my mom Instagram @pinkhairmom you can see the singing/mocking gibbons. Anyway this blog is about style not primates although maybe it should be. More flannel I love flannel in the fall it's just the right softness and weight for those 55 degree days. I matched it with a utility vest I got at TJ Maxx, ripped jeans, and booties. I usually take a Longchamp tote to the zoo because they are durable and washable. Check out the details and at the end of the post you can see some of my pictures from the zoo, including feeding the giraffe with my bare hands! Oh and please ignore my very bad hair day.

Shop this look...

These are like $10 on sale now and they still have all sizes. Some are more softer then others. I really like the New York and Company Soho ones because they feel like silk but this is a cheap classic color combo that works great with the green vest. And don't worry this style will survive well into spring.

Mine is actually Lucky Brand (which is only available in black now but on sale) that I got at TJ Maxx for considerably less then $100. Here is one from Target for closer to the price I paid. I bought mine big enough to zip over my chest but I wish I had bought a medium because mostly I don't zip it and it's too big.

I love these jeans but unfortunately I am in between a 6 and an 8 although I'm sure Thanksgiving fixed that. they are super soft and stretchy so don't buy them too big.

Mine are old but this is this year's version. They're pretty comfy. Generally speaking I'm always pleased with F21 shoes.

Faux Leather Chelsea Boots

I love these bags. I have a slight obsession with them because they are so durable and waterproof. They're perfect in the summer to be thrown around where ever and they come in a ton of colors. You can get them used for a really reasonable price on eBay.

This one is really similar to the one I got of Nordstrom a few months ago. I always get a lot of compliments.

Love this bracelet so much it is elegant and sleek. This is a good price on this beautiful piece.

I love my red eyeglasses. These aren't quite as cool but they are wicked on sale.

Here are some pictures from our visit.

Right before he swallows my hand.

The hand swallowing is obstructed by Scarlett's cuteness.

One bird.

Two birds.

Selfie on the ski lift over the rhinos.

Scarlett with a Scarlet Macaw.

The dog and the cheetah.

Flamingos (she's doing her best impression).

Babies!!!!

He was gorgeous and just walking around the park.
